    From the May Central Carolina Classic – earlier I won an adult nationals gold medal with this dramatic program “Stranger in Paradise” f<\/a><\/strong>rom the 1955 movie “Kismet.”<\/p>\n

    My gold medal winning “It’s Hairspray” light entertainment showcase program<\/strong><\/a> at the Eastern US Adult Sectional Championship, Philadelphia March, 2022<\/p>\n

    In May, 2021 I passed my Juvenile – Adult solo free dance test (with honors!) which now makes me eligible to compete at the US Adult National Championships starting in 2022!\u00a0 Link to dance test.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/a>Spring, 2021.\u00a0 I entered the American Ice’s Theatre’s Virtual Artistic Competition and won “most dazzling entertainer” for the over 35 age group!\u00a0 Link to the competition video.<\/a> <\/strong>The over 35 portion is 56:52 – 1:13:34 in the recording if you want to skip to this piece.\u00a0 I start at 1:05:54\u00a0 and the judge’s award for the most dazzling entertainer is at 1:10:30.<\/p>\n

I am very pleased to be writing this monthly series on various aspects of “getting up.”<\/p>\n

    January: Introduction to the “Get Up” theme<\/strong><\/a> with figure skating examples<\/p>\n

    February: Stories of Adult Figure Skaters “Getting Up” After Illness and Injury,<\/strong><\/a> part 1<\/p>\n

    March: Getting Up after Career and Vocation Falls.<\/strong><\/a> Read these four short inspiration stories of how these people “got up” to move on after falls and troubles in their vocational lives.<\/p>\n

    April: Adult Figure Skaters – Inspirational Stories of “Getting Up” after illness and injury, Part 2<\/strong><\/a>. Please read these 5 very short personal recollections including some cool photos.<\/p>\n

    May: In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, my May \u201cGet Up\u201d Blog is \u201cGetting Up after Considering or Attempting Suicide.\u201d<\/strong><\/a> Often greatly stigmatized, people suffering with this issue can indeed get up and move on to whole and satisfying lives.<\/p>\n

    June: In “Getting Up from from loneliness and isolation through finding community”<\/strong> <\/a>I share the inspiring story of adult figure skater Amanda McGowan find a community through skating.<\/p>\n

    October: an interview with Joanne Vassallo Jamrosz<\/strong><\/a> who has written a wonderful series of books about all kinds of figure skaters, famous and no-so-famous, who all have \u201cget up\u201d stories. Mine is even included in her latest book!<\/p>\n

    November: In my Final \u201cGet Up\u201d Blog of the Year,<\/strong><\/a> I provide a summary and links to my entire \u201cGet Up\u201d Series<\/p>\n
